Nationally, Sigma Nu has over 150,000 living alumni. The support provided by these individuals to all of our undergraduate chapters as well as to the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation, allows the Fraternity to provide educational opportunities to our members as well as the services they need to successfully operate. These individuals who continue to support Sigma Nu long after their day of graduation are committed to the mission of Sigma Nu and to helping others in their pursuit of excellence just as someone helped them in their pursuit. Chapters rely on the expert knowledge and support from the local community and alumni who serve as chapter advisors for assistance in all areas of chapter operations. Thanks to all of the alumni volunteers and their support of the Fraternity, Sigma Nu continues to pursue excellence as a Fraternity.
Kappa Pi's 25th Anniversary
In October of 2010, the Kappa Pi chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity celebrated its 25th Anniversary since becoming recognized as a chapter on Cal Poly’s campus. The weekend consisted of multiple brothers catching up on old times and meeting the newest members of the Kappa Pi chapter. On Saturday afternoon, the active chapter hosted a BBQ at the chapter house where the alumni brothers were able to see what the house looks like now. Later that afternoon, the alumni challenged the active chapter to a soccer game where the alumni came out victorious winning the game 2-1.
Saturday night consisted of the 25th Anniversary banquet at Madonna Inn. Many of the alumni were able to celebrate with the active members where four of the founders talked to the entire party about their experiences of when the chapter first began. Hearing what each had to say inspired the active chapter to work toward excellence. The active chapter then gave each of the founders a commemorative 25th Anniversary lapel pin to show their appreciation for what each has done for the Fraternity.
Sunday morning was a last chance for the alumni to come to the house and say their good byes and look forward to upcoming alumni events. The active chapter hosted a small breakfast for those who came by the house. The Kappa Pi chapter looks forward to the next 5 years of existence and continually strives for the pursuit of excellence and the possible dream of winning Rock Chapter once again. To those of you who came out to the 25th anniversary, thank you for coming out, we will see you again for the 30th Anniversary in 2015.
